Where Craft Meets Conservation

Founded in 2008 in Toronto's historic Distillery District, clever-verse emerged from a simple observation: too many beautiful wooden doors and window frames were being replaced rather than restored. What began as a small workshop has grown into a trusted name among heritage homeowners, restoration architects, and property managers across Canada.

Our founder, a third-generation woodworker trained in traditional European joinery, established clever-verse with a clear mission: to provide restoration services that respect the original craftsmanship while meeting contemporary standards of durability and efficiency.

Today, our team of certified restoration specialists continues this tradition, combining handed-down techniques with modern materials science to deliver results that stand the test of time.

Our Guiding Principles

The values that shape every restoration project we undertake.

Preservation First

We always prioritize repairing and conserving original materials over replacement. Each piece of heritage wood carries history that deserves protection.

Transparent Process

Clients receive detailed assessments, clear timelines, and honest pricing. No hidden costs or unexpected changes without consultation.

Sustainable Practice

Restoration inherently reduces waste. We further our commitment by using low-VOC finishes, responsibly sourced replacement wood, and recycling workshop materials.

Continuous Learning

Our team regularly attends conservation workshops, studies historical techniques, and collaborates with heritage organizations to expand our capabilities.

Expertise Across Eras and Styles

From Georgian sash windows to Art Deco entrance doors, our portfolio spans more than two centuries of architectural design. This breadth of experience allows us to approach each project with informed perspective, recognizing period-specific construction methods and appropriate restoration approaches.

We maintain an extensive reference library documenting hardware styles, wood species, and finishing techniques from different eras and regions. This resource helps us match replacements accurately and advise clients on historically appropriate choices.
